  • Description: Trophy New South Wales Wine Awards - Best Young Blend
  • Details: Huon Hooke Good Living, The Sydney Morning Herald 18 May 2010 WINE OF THE WEEK 92/100 Lovely wine and sharp price. Mudgee-based Peter Logan is doing ever-more-impressive things with Orange grapes. Excellent colour introduces a sweetly ripe, pristine, ripeblackberry nose. These aromas translate well to the palate where it's tight and nicely firm with abundant fruit, presented with vibrancy and richness. The tannin structure suggests it will take some age well but the grip melts away with food. Little track record so cellar with caution: I'd guess it will keep well for a decade but it's so up-front it's hard to imagine why you wouldn't drink it young. Food: Red-wine based stews, braises and casseroles, osso bucco, daube of beef, boeuf bourguignon. Tony Love TASTE - national insert in News Ltd daily newspapers including: The Daily Telegraph (NSW) - Tuesday March 9 Courier Mail (QLD) - Tuesday March 9 Herald Sun (VIC) - Wednesday March 10 Adelaide Advertiser (SA) - Wednesday March 10 West Australian (WA) - Sunday March 14 Orange and its surrounding districts can cool down fairly quickly after sunset and this helps to lengthen the ripening period and encourage the berry concentration. Classic blackberry and dark chocolate aromas with a typical lipsmack of texture and blueberry spectrum of tastes, lifted by a touch of florals and herbs. Jeff Collerson Daily Telegraph 6 March 2010 Logan...is among the leading producers in NSW’s relatively new cool climate region of Orange. This is soft and round, smelling of red berries and with a pleasing, fleshy mouth feel and a savoury edge. It matches well with veal schnitzel. John Fordham Sunday Telegraph 9 May 2010 Attractively balanced Orange-region red featuring the almost perfect marriage of these varieties.

James halliday Rating - 90- Plummy, mulberry, blackberry notes, a pinch of tarragon and thyme, along with a whisker of vanilla derived from its time in oak. The cooler growing conditions enhanced varietal definition. Generously proportioned with smooth, finely polished tannins, balanced acidity and lively flavours that are the hallmark of the variety. Great balance; an easy drinking style with depth of flavour, made for immediate enjoyment but also offers some short term aging potential

Mitolo Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 uses one fifth grapes dried for several weeks in a process similar to that used for Amarone. The wine was fermented cool in order to preserve the maximum fruit character in the wine. A deep purple wine, with lots of blackcurrant on the nose as well as spice and some oak character. Round and full on the palate the flavours of blackcurrant, a little dark chocolate are supported by ripe smooth tannins.
