Details: Directly after harvesting the grapes were transported to the winery with haste and pressed off immediately to minimize skin contact and juice deterioration. After settling, the juice from each batch was fermented using a variety of selected yeast in 100% stainless steel at cool temperatures to retain fruit flavour. This batch was chosen specifically as a Pioneer Block due to its power and intensity of flavour. After ferment the wine was stabilised and carefully prepared for bottling.
This wine has classic Marlborough pungency and varietal definition. There are aromas of white and blackcurrants and plenty of passion fruit. The palate is full, finishing with fresh gooseberry and currant acidity with mineral characters that linger for several minutes. This is an excellent food wine that will enhance meals with delicate flavours such as white meats or fish.
