Description: Modern Aussie Shiraz, less reliance on oak, vibrant and bright. The wine displays distinctive
pepper and spice characters with good mid palate weight and length. It has fine fruit concentration and purity of character.
Details: Winemaking
The hand harvested bunches were destemmed, crushed and fermented on skins in small, open top fermenters. Throughout fermentation the fruit was regularly hand plunged to extract colour, flavour and tannins. Malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barriques. The wine was matured for 15 months in new, one and two year old French oak barriques.
The Logan 2005 Shiraz is a deep burgundy colour, showing white and black pepper, blackberry, star anise and nutmeg aromas. The soft but full palate has flavours of plum, allspice and sarsaparilla with a lingering finish.
Honestly, after having the winemaker, Chris Williams in the shop recently, it's clear that he's leading the revolution in South Africa and Syrah doesn't get much better.
“Traditional blackberry, plum, earth, spice and vanilla; good mouthfeel and length; impressive given the vintage. Cork Rating 89 Drink 2012”
