Description: DECANTER MAGAZINE JUNE 2008
'BEST VALUE RED WINE'
"This is a typically attractive and generous New World Wine, with a pronounced, baked plum crumbled nose and a pinprick of herbs. Plenty of the same in the mouth, which displays soft subtle tannins and surprisingly good length."
Details: These wines are all Lockett’s discoveries and only stocked by him, or occasionally a few chums.
But it’s worth the trip to find things like this beautifully smooth merlot from Mudgee. It’s a juicy, mouthwatering glass ofwine with a
concentration and chocolate bitterness on the finish that’s simply absent from many merlots.
A great discovery.
Producer: Logan Wines – Central Ranges, NSW, Australia
The Logan 2005 Cabernet Merlot is a rich red colour with aromas of cassis, raspberry and a herbaceous perfume of rosemary and thyme. These continue onto the firm palate which also shows boysenberry, dark chocolate and tobacco
with a long finish.
Right now you’ve got a pretty good view of our 2004 Merlot. You’ll find 2004 has produced
aromas of black olive, violets, dark berries and toast with a full palate of cassis, plum and chocolate and a long dry finish.
