The first high quality, unfortified wine produced in the Douro valley, Barca Velha is a benchmark for all Portuguese wine. Since the first vintage in 1952, there have only been 20 releases, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after wines in the world.

A wine of staggering complexity, power and grace. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe red and black fruit are married with spicy notes of pepper, clove and cedar and balsamic nuances. Assertive yet elegant on the palate, with firm but velvety tannins, a subtle slate-like minerality and a vibrant acidity which carries the complex flavours onto the lingering and harmonious finish.
